Old Cowtown Museum
Where the Old West Comes to Life
Located on the banks of the Arkansas River and open year-’round to visitors, Old Cowtown Museum depicts life in Wichita in the late 1860s and 1870s. The museum is comprised of 54 historic and recreated buildings, fully half of which are original, and the remainder relocated from the area.
The historic structures include period furnishings, clothing and domestic textiles, and farming equipment, as well as 12,000+ artifacts dating from the period. The Old Cowtown Museum experience includes costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, educational programming, and a calendar of diverse events throughout the year.
