Welcome to Urban Prevue

Welcome to Urban Prevue!

Although my relationship with Wichita began in the early 1970s, it wasn’t until 1995 that I moved here and began to call it home.

Perhaps it was because when I arrived it was autumn and everywhere I looked I found a celebration of the season. Nevertheless, I immediately had the feeling of being “at home.” It is still such a pleasure to drive down the streets of the different neighborhoods and see the many ways this community celebrates the special nature of each time of year.

Whether here in the city, in our surrounding communities, or beyond, there truly is “no place like home.” Over the years, I have come to enjoy the singular pleasures to be found in Wichita homes, gardens, businesses, shops, restaurants, and the arts.

With the launching of Urban Prevue, Wichita’s premier online magazine, we hope to share the pleasures of visiting beautiful homes and enchanting gardens, discovering delightful surprises in the arts, and preparing delectable dishes. We also want to share information about the amazing businesses and the notable events and attractions here and in our surrounding communities.

We hope our regular calendar of events in Urban Now is a starting point for your celebrations; that Urban Voices will lend an appreciation of the many talented folks that make Wichita great; and that UrbanPrevue.com’s regular features will become your source of inspiration and fresh perspectives for experiencing Wichita.

As we take flight on the internet, we welcome you to take this journey with us. One thing is certain: whatever you do, wherever you go, you know you will always be welcome. One of the overwhelming characteristics of Wichita, and, for that matter, Kansas as a whole, is its welcoming nature.

For these reasons and more, it is with great enthusiasm that we showcase the things that make this town so uniquely special—a true “Jewel of the Prairie.”

We extend an open invitation, along with our very warm welcome to you, to join us in discovering, savoring, and appreciating its many delightful facets in UrbanPrevue.com.

As with our sister printed publication, The Front Porch Wichita, we invite you to join us as we share more stories about the people, places, and ideas that make our city great. And, to a large degree, that means your stories. So, if you happen to have something you’d like to share, please reach out and give us a call. We want to hear from you!
